The White Sox placed Benintendi on the 10-day injured list Sunday with left Achilles tendinitis. After hitting a solo home run in his first at-bat in the third inning of Saturday's 4-3 loss to Milwaukee, Benintendi was removed in the bottom of the frame due to the Achilles concern. The fact that Benintendi's injury is being listed as tendinitis rather than a strain bodes well for a short stint on the IL, but the veteran outfielder remains without a clear timeline for a return at this stage. Oscar Colas was called up from Triple-A Charlotte and will start in right field in the series finale in Milwaukee. Colas and Dominic Fletcher will likely be the main beneficiaries from a playing-time standpoint while Benintendi is on the shelf.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Leaves early Saturday
Benintendi exited Saturday's contest against the Brewers in the bottom of the third inning with left Achilles tendinitis. Benintendi launched a solo home run off Robert Gasser in the top of the third inning, delivering the White Sox an early 1-0 lead, before leaving the game in the bottom half of the frame. Dominic Fletcher took over in the outfield and more information on Benintendi's status will likely come following the contest.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Taking seat Wednesday
Benintendi is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays. Corey Julks will draw the start in left field while Benintendi retreats to the bench for the series finale. Benintendi manned left field in the first two games versus Toronto and recorded three hits over eight at-bats.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Collects three hits
Benintendi went 3-for-4 in a loss to the Blue Jays on Monday. Benintendi managed only his fourth multi-hit effort of May and his second three-knock performance of the season. He's had a disastrous campaign so far, as he has hit only .193 with 17 RBI and 12 runs scored across 48 games.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Sitting Sunday
Benintendi is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Orioles. Benintendi will get a rest Sunday after starting in each of the first three games of the series, going 1-for-10 with two RBI and three walks. The 29-year-old has endured a dismal May, slashing .141/.195/.183 over 20 games.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Swipes second bag
Benintendi went 0-for-4 with a stolen base Friday against the Orioles. Benintendi has hit just .145 across 19 games in May and is hitless in five of his last seven starts. He did manage to swipe his second bag of the season, though that's hardly a consolation given his .183/.213/.263 slash line across 183 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Not starting vs. lefty
Benintendi is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays. Benintendi is 3-for-20 over his past six games and will sit Tuesday as southpaw Yusei Kikuchi takes the mound for Toronto. Zach Remillard will handle left field and bat seventh.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Sitting for series finale
Benintendi is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Guardians. The lefty-hitting Benintendi will take a seat Sunday against Guardians southpaw Logan Allen. Tommy Pham will shift to left field while Rafael Ortega draws the start in center field. Benintendi has gone 5-for-33 with two runs and one RBI in May.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Not starting Sunday
Benintendi is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Benintendi is 1-for-12 over his previous three games and will sit Sunday as lefty Matthew Liberatore pitches for St. Louis. Robbie Grossman is starting in left field and batting leadoff.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Cranks two homers in victory
Benintendi went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and six RBI in Saturday's extra-inning win over the Rays. Benintendi's huge game came out of nowhere -- not only were the two long balls his first two of the campaign, but the multi-hit effort was his first such performance since April 15. The veteran outfielder's power has dropped off dramatically in recent seasons, as he swatted just 10 home runs over 277 contests across 2022 and 2023. Saturday's performance was the sixth multi-homer effort of Benintendi's career, and his six RBI tied a career high, while the walk-off blast was his first as a major-leaguer.... See More ... White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: On bench Thursday
Benintendi is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins. Benintendi will head to the bench for the second time in the four-game series in Minnesota as the White Sox hand Robbie Grossman a start in left field. Though he's produced a .395 OPS through 88 plate appearances on the season, Benintendi's role still appears fairly secure while he's in the second season of a five-year, $75 million contract.... White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Sits amid season-long slump
Benintendi is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins. Benintendi went 1-for-13 during the White Sox's series with the Phillies over the weekend, bringing his batting average down to .158 for the season. Given that he's in the second season of a five-year, $75 million deal, Benintendi likely isn't in any danger of losing out on everyday role, but he could find himself outside of the lineup on a more frequent basis if he's unable to stage a turnaround in the near future.... White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Not starting in second matchup
Benintendi is not listed amongst the starters for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals. Benintendi started in the first game of the twin bill and went 1-for-4 in a 4-2 loss, but he will get a break for the second contest. The 29-year-old now has a .175/.224/.190 slash line through 16 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: On base three times Sunday
Benintendi went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Royals. Benintendi drove in a run on a fifth-inning single for his first RBI of the year. He's been absolutely miserable at the plate in the early going, slashing just .139/.184/.139 with five base hits and his one RBI in 36 at-bats.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Plagued by hand injury last season
Benintendi said Tuesday that he was held back by a hand injury last season, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Benintendi's 2022 season ended prematurely due to right hamate surgery and soreness his hand/wrist area evidently lingered for much of the 2023 campaign. He never went on the injured list but did miss about a week of action around midseason. The injury could at least partly explain Benintendi's meager .262/.326/.356 batting line last season, so perhaps at least a modest resurgence might be in store in 2024 now that he's apparently fully recovered. For what it's worth, Benintendi said he had "one of my best offseasons," while gaining some strength.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Likely to bat leadoff?
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol listed Benintendi when asked Monday about potential leadoff hitters, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Grifol said he had a few players in mind, but Benintendi is the only one he mentioned by name, suggesting the 29-year-old could be the favorite to hit at the top of the batting order. It's not a surprise, especially considering the team's lack of options. Benintendi's first season in Chicago in 2023 was a lackluster one, as he slashed just .262/.326/.356 with five home runs and 13 stolen bases. He has four years and $66.4 million remaining on his contract.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Riding pine in finale
Benintendi is not in Sunday's lineup against the Padres. The White Sox are resting several regulars on the final day of the season, and Tyler Naquin will be patrolling left field. Benintendi's contract should lock him in to a sizable role next season, but he ended up being a replacement-level player (0.0 fWAR) over 151 games in the first year of a five-year, $75 million deal.... White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Sitting versus lefty
Benintendi is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Boston. The Red Sox are starting southpaw Chris Sale, so the left-handed hitting Benintendi will begin this one on the bench. Zach Remillard will be in left field for the White Sox.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Suddenly finding power
Benintendi went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Saturday against the Athletics. Benintendi managed only two home runs across his first 117 games with the White Sox, but he now has three homers across his last five starts. He's hit particularly well of late, as he has at least one hit in 10 of his last 12 games while maintaining a .333 average with seven RBI and nine runs scored in that span. Benintendi's performance remains underwhelming overall, though his recent surge has pushed his OPS over .700 for the season.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Swats homer in loss
Benintendi went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in a loss to the Athletics on Thursday. Benintendi got Chicago off to a quick start with a solo shot to right field in the first inning, and he added a run-scoring single in the fifth. The outfielder has surprised by going deep twice in his past three games after hitting just two home runs over his first 117 contests of the campaign. Benintendi is in the mist of a six-game hitting streak, during which he's slashing .435/.458/.739 with the two homers, five RBI, five runs and a stolen base.... See More ... See Less
