The White Sox optioned Berroa to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Berroa made just one appearance during his time with the White Sox, retiring one batter and hitting another with a pitch in Tuesday's loss to the Twins. The White Sox will replace him on the active roster with Jared Shuster, who was recalled from Triple-A and will give the bullpen more length.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Prelander Berroa: Expected to be recalled
Berroa is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte prior to Sunday's game versus the Rays, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. The White Sox need bullpen help after five relievers were needed in Saturday's extra-inning win over the Rays. Berroa allowed 11 runs over his first 4.1 innings with Charlotte this season but has been unscored upon in his last seven appearances. The hard-throwing righty was acquired from the Mariners over the offseason in the Gregory Santos trade and will be making his White Sox debut when/if he gets into a game.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Prelander Berroa: Resuming throwing Friday
Berroa (shoulder) has been cleared to resume throwing Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Berroa had a right shoulder issue crop up earlier this week, but everything checked out fine and the reliever is "on pace to crank it up," per White Sox manager Pedro Grifol. It sounds like the hard-throwing reliever could have a chance to be ready for Opening Day, which would be a pleasant surprise. If healthy, Berroa should be in the late-inning mix for the White Sox.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Prelander Berroa: Optioned to Double-A
Berroa was optioned to Double-A Arkansas on Saturday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Berroa walked three over two-thirds of an inning in his major-league debut Friday but managed to escape without allowing a run. Isaiah Campbell is taking his spot in the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Prelander Berroa: Moving to relief
Berroa has transitioned to a relief role with Double-A Arkansas, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. The 23-year-old righty opened the year in the Double-A rotation, but after walking 19 batters and giving up 13 earned runs in 22.2 innings across five starts, Seattle will look to fast-track him as a reliever. Berroa, who is already on the 40-man roster, has a premium fastball/slider combination that could play up in a high-leverage role, assuming he can throw enough strikes.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Prelander Berroa: Optioned to Double-A
Berroa was optioned to Double-A Arkansas by the Mariners on Tuesday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. Berroa impressed during the spring camp, but the right-hander was never a real option to make the Mariners out of spring training. The right-hander will be a part of the Arkansas rotation, and he has a chance to be a part of the Seattle staff before the end of 2023, with 2024 a more likely ETA.... See More ... See Less

Scott Merkin@scottmerkin3M agoCubs are 29-31 overall, 7.5 games out of first, and 5-14 in their last 19. White Sox are 15-45 overall, 24.5 games out of first, and 1-15 in their last 16. They meet Tuesday and Wednesday at Wrigley Field. But throw out the records when these two Crosstown rivals meet.

Scott Merkin@scottmerkin13M ago"Hoo-rah shit" ranks as one of the greatest quotes I've heard in 22 years covering the White Sox. Tommy Pham is an infinitely interesting guy to watch play and talk with, just in the short time he's been with the team, and an intense competitor.

Scott Merkin@scottmerkin1H agoPham is also a guy I see talking with players after games about what transpired, younger players picking his brain. He told me he did the same with Matt Holliday when he was a younger player, so it's good to see the same with the White Sox. A great plus for a young team.

James Fegan@JRFegan2H agoWhite Sox lose to the Brewers, 6-3 The top five of their opening day batting order were all hurt, their top two relievers were unavailable, and their rookie starting pitcher gave up a four-spot in the second. And still, mistakes in the eighth were the difference. Sox are 15-45.
