The Mariners optioned Rivas to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Rivas has been up with the big club for nearly four weeks but has hardly played, accruing just six plate appearances. He'll see more regular action back at Tacoma.... See More ... See Less

Mariners' Leonardo Rivas: Triples in first big-league at-bat
Rivas went 1-for-2 with a triple and a run in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday. The rookie, who was just called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, finally had a chance to pay off his eight-plus season of toiling in the minors in his first big-league plate appearance by ripping a three-bagger in the third inning. Julio Rodriguez subsequently plated Rivas with a single, and the latter also rounded out his successful debut by making several impressive defensive plays, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Rivas' stay with the big-league club should have a good chance to last through J.P. Crawford's (oblique) stay on the injured list, at minimum.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Leonardo Rivas: Added to roster
The Mariners selected Rivas' contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday. Rivas has slashed .308/.422/.462 with two home runs, five steals and a 13:11 K:BB over 18 games this season with Tacoma. The 26-year-old has prior professional experience at all spots of the infield and outfield but was used only at shortstop at Tacoma. He could get some reps at the position with J.P. Crawford (oblique) landing on the 10-day injured list Thursday, though Dylan Moore will likely be first in line to replace Crawford.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Leonardo Rivas: Signs NRI deal with Seattle
Rivas signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training. Rivas spent the 2022 season in the Reds organization, recording a .662 OPS across 95 games between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville. He'll almost certainly open the upcoming campaign in the minors, with Triple-A Tacoma his likely starting point.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Leonardo Rivas: PTBNL in Iglesias trade
Rivas was traded from the Angels to the Reds on Thursday as the player to be named later in exchange for right-hander Raisel Iglesias. Rivas will serve as the PTBNL later to complete the deal that the two teams made Monday. The 23-year-old advanced to the High-A level in 2019, slashing .236/.328/.377 with six home runs and 26 RBI over 73 games, and he'll continue his development with the Reds going forward....
