  • Dodgers' Connor Brogdon: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Dodgers transferred Brogdon (foot) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.

Brogdon landed on the injured list with plantar fasciitis in mid-April shortly after being acquired from Philadelphia, and he'll be sidelined for at least another month. The right-hander began a rehab assignment in early May and appeared close to joining the Dodgers, but he apparently suffered a setback and is now without a clear timeline for his return.

  • Dodgers' Ricky Vanasco: Returns to Triple-A

Vanasco was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

The right-hander was called up by Los Angeles on Friday but will return to Triple-A without making an appearance with the big club. Vanasco delivered two scoreless frames in his MLB debut April 15, but that's his only outing in the big leagues this season.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Throws from Dodger Stadium mound

Kershaw (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on the field at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Kershaw has thrown multiple bullpens in recent weeks, though this was the first one that took place on the field. The left-hander is building back up slowly from offseason shoulder surgery and isn't expected to be ready to join Los Angeles until at least mid-July. When Kershaw does return, it's unclear how the Dodgers will adjust their rotation given that back-end starters James Paxton and Gavin Stone have both been pitching relatively well.

  • Dodgers' J.P. Feyereisen: Sent to Triple-A

Feyereisen was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Feyereisen was called up by Los Angeles at the start of May and will head back to the minors after he allowed six earned runs with an 8:5 K:BB across nine innings. The right-hander gave up all those runs in his first two outings before he turned in seven straight scoreless appearances.

  • Dodgers' Anthony Banda: Contract selected

The Dodgers selected Banda's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

The left-hander was acquired from the Guardians for cash considerations Friday and will join the Dodgers without making an appearance for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Banda allowed five earned runs over seven innings for Washington last year but has a 2.12 ERA in 12 appearances at the Triple-A level in 2024.

  • Dodgers' Will Smith: Not in Sunday's lineup

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Smith will get a breather for Sunday's series finale after going 1-for-7 with a walk and an RBI in the first two games of the series. Austin Barnes will step in behind the plate to catch for Landon Knack.

  • Dodgers' Landon Knack: Promoted, starting Sunday

Knack was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City and is starting Sunday against the Reds.

The right-hander spent nearly the past three weeks in the minors but will rejoin the Dodgers for Sunday's series finale. Knack has a 2.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB across 16 innings through three big-league starts this season, and he could be headed back to Triple-A after the contest.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Scores twice in win

Freeman went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Reds.

Freeman drew a leadoff walk to open the bottom of the fourth and would eventually come home to score the Dodgers' first run of the contest later in the frame on a single from outfielder Andy Pages. The star first baseman would add an RBI single in the fourth, along with a leadoff double in the eighth, before coming around to score for a second time. Freeman had gone hitless in his previous two games but now has five multi-hit games in May to go along with six RBI and 14 runs scored. He's also tied for fifth in the league in doubles with 13.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Dominant in first win

Buehler (1-1) earned the win over the Reds on Saturday, striking out seven over six shutout innings while allowing three hits.

Buehler looked like his old self for the first time since returning from the injured list, allowing just one single over the first four innings and one extra-base hit on the night while posting a season-high seven strikeouts. The right-hander hadn't gone more than four innings in either of his previous two starts to open the campaign and had also allowed at least one home run in each of those outings. However, Buehler might have found his groove Saturday, as he managed to get through six frames on just 78 pitches while also allowing just three hits, which marked a season low.

  • Dodgers' Landon Knack: Could be called up to start

Knack isn't listed as Triple-A Oklahoma City's starter for Saturday and could be called up to start the Dodgers' game Sunday versus the Reds, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Not coincidentally, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that recalling Knack was one of the options the team was considering for the opening in the rotation Sunday. If Knack does in fact get the call, he could be deployed as a bulk reliever behind an opener rather than as a traditional starter.

  • Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Throws bullpen session

Phillips (hamstring) threw another bullpen session Saturday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Saturday's mound session was Phillips' second since landing on the injured list May 5 with a strained right hamstring. He still has yet to face live hitters, but manager Dave Roberts said after Phillips' session that the right-hander is roughly a week away from rejoining Los Angeles' bullpen.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Throws another bullpen Saturday

Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Miller is now expected to throw a three-inning simulated game within the next few days. Assuming all goes well, he will then embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. The Dodgers haven't said how long they plan on keeping Miller in the minors, but considering he has been on the shelf since April 13, he will likely need to make multiple starts in order to get back to a starter's workload.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Getting rare day off

Betts isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

After starting 47 consecutive games and posting an incredible .341/.440/.562 slash line to begin the year, Betts will step out of the lineup for the first time all season. Miguel Rojas will instead start at shortstop while batting ninth.

  • Dodgers' Jason Heyward: Homers in return

Heyward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a hit-by-pitch in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Heyward returned from a back injury that cost him nearly seven weeks. He delivered a big hit with his eighth-inning blast, which was his first homer in five games this season. The outfielder has added four RBI and four runs scored. Heyward is likely to command at least a strong-side platoon role in right field, which he excelled at with a .269/.340/.473 slash line over 374 plate appearances in 2023.

  • Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Belts another leadoff homer

Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Betts' last two homers have been of the leadoff variety, and they're his only two long balls in May. He's hitting .283 this month, dropping his season-long batting average to a still-stunning .341 through 47 contests. Betts has added eight homers, 29 RBI, 40 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples over 218 plate appearances while serving as the everyday leadoff hitter.
