Woods Richardson did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Astros. He struck out six.

Woods Richardson, a native of suburban Houston, was pulled after one out in the fifth prior to facing the top of the Astros lineup for the third time. It was not a bad outing for Woods Richardson, though he doubled his homers allowed for the season, allowing a solo homer to Victor Caratini in the second followed by a two-run blast by Alex Bregman in the third that accounted for each of his three runs allowed. Following a five-run blowup against Toronto on May 11, Woods Richardson had allowed only three runs over his previous three starts totaling 15 innings coming into the day and maintains a 3.05 ERA and 1.11 WHIP on the season. He's next slated to toe the rubber next weekend when the Twins travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Sunday that the swelling in Suarez's hand has improved significantly, and the left-hander could pick up a ball in the next day or two, Matt Gelb of The Athleticreports.

The 28-year-old was struck in the left hand by a comebacker during Saturday's start against the Cardinals, but he's had X-rays come back negative and already appears to be progressing in his recovery. It remains to be seen if Suarez will be cleared for his next turn through the rotation, but he's certainly trending in the right direction. The Phillies also have three scheduled days off surrounding next weekend's two-game series versus the Mets in London, so the club could give Suarez some extra time between outings without needing an additional starter.

Brown did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over six innings against the Twins. He struck out seven.

Brown allowed two solo homers, one to leadoff the game by Trevor Larnach and a blast in the sixth by Jose Miranda. Those two dingers sandwiched a second inning run-scoring double by Alex Kirilloff to represent the three tallies against Brown. The sixth-inning homer eliminated Browns chance to pick up his second win, though he did collect his third-straight quality start. While Brown's season ERA remains at 6.18, he's been much better over his last five starts, accumulating a 3.53 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 31 strikeouts over 28 innings. His next start is tentatively slated for next weekend when the Astros travel to Anaheim to take on the Angels in a three-game set.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Somerset, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The 33-year-old has thrown multiple sessions of live batting practice over the past couple weeks and has now been cleared to pitch in minor-league games. Cole will require multiple outings in the minors before being ready to join the Yankees, but he's on track to make his season debut during the second half of June.

Silseth (elbow) threw three scoreless innings Friday, allowing one hit and striking out three batters, in a rehab appearance with the Angels' Arizona Complex League team.

Silseth looked good in the outing and threw 23 of his 39 pitches for strikes. The right-hander has been on the shelf since April 8 but is nearing eligibility to return from the 60-day IL. Silseth will almost certainly need at least one, and likely multiple, additional rehab starts before he's ready to be activated. With struggling Reid Detmers demoted to the minors Saturday, there is a space in the big-league rotation available for Silseth upon his return.

Wicks (forearm) making a rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Networkreports.

The 24-year-old covered 3.1 innings during his previous rehab outing Tuesday and will continue building up his workload Sunday with Iowa. It remains to be seen if Wicks will require an additional rehab appearance or if he'll be cleared to rejoin the Cubs.

The Royals recalled Lynch from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Lynch was optioned to Triple-A on Friday, but he'll be back with the big club just two days later after Michael Wacha was placed on the 15-day injured list with a fractured left foot. With Wacha's injury likely to keep him sidelined for several weeks, Lynch will take the right-hander's spot in the rotation, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com. Lynch previously made two spot starts and two-inning relief appearance for the Royals last month, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight over 12 frames. The southpaw was similarly sharp over his four outings with Omaha in May (2.91 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 15:4 K:BB in 21.2 innings), and he'll look to carry over that strong form for what could be an extended run in the big-league rotation. He tentatively lines up to make his first start in place of Wacha on Thursday in Cleveland.

The Royals placed Wacha on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a non-displaced left foot fracture.

X-rays revealed that Wacha suffered structural damage to his foot after he was hit by a 90 mile-per-hour comebacker off the bat of Luis Arraez in the opening inning of Friday's 11-8 loss to the Padres. Despite the fact that he was likely dealing with some pain, Wacha stayed in the game and proceeded to cover 5.1 innings while allowing two runs in a no-decision. The Royals haven't provided a timeline for Wacha's return, but given the nature of his injury, he's likely to miss beyond the minimum 15 days regardless of whether or not he requires surgery. Daniel Lynch was called up from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move and will take Wacha's spot in the rotation during the upcoming week.

The Guardians reinstated Carrasco (neck) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Nationals.

Cleveland made room for Carrasco on the 26-man active roster by placing right-handed reliever Eli Morgan (elbow) on the 15-day injured list. Carrasco ended up spending the minimum amount of time on the shelf due to acute neck spasms, which he experienced coming out of his most recent start May 15. Though he's not expected to face any major workload restrictions as he steps back into the Cleveland rotation Sunday, Carrasco is tough to trust for fantasy purposes after he delivered a 5.16 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over his first nine starts of the season.

The Red Sox transferred Whitlock (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

The transaction is merely a procedural move to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder/outfielder Jamie Westbrook, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Worcester ahead of Sunday's game against the Tigers. Whitlock is already slated to miss the remainder of the season after he underwent an internal bracing procedure on his right elbow earlier in the week. He's expected to make a full recovery in 10-to-12 months, making it likely that he opens the 2025 season on the shelf.
